Blogging is about being social and networking, but sometimes it can be a bit of a lonely place as you don’t really know who is reading the posts and if there’s actually anyone ‘out there’!. So, it was lovely to see that ShariVoigt at Express Marketing Memo, and Joe at The Bunker Blog had both tagged me to produce a list of 7 Strange but True things about myself. So, here goes:
- Emigrating from UK to Canada in 2003 was the best move I ever made. I’ve never looked back. We live in a cottage on a river in a rural area and it is paradise. In summer I swim at dawn; in winter I can walk on the lake in the moonlight.
- I love Marmite straight out of the jar. In fact if you stick a finger into a jar of Marmite, then into a packet of peanuts, it’s divine. Disgusting but divine!
- I am a trained hypnotist and yes, I could make you act like a chicken, but I prefer using the skills therapeutically. My best friend Helen gave birth to both her children (my godchildren) at home while I used hypnosis for pain relief – hers not mine!
- My sweet golden retriever Tess has epilepsy and I learnt ocular compression to shorten seizures. This is like CPR on the eyeballs. Works a treat
- I started competing in triathlons at age 50 and will do three sprint triathlons this summer.
- I hate shopping and only own 4 pairs of shoes –my husband loves me for that weird behaviour.
- My best time for working and writing is between 5am and 7am before a morning run. In the summer, it’s even earlier.
This has been fun and to make it better, I have tagged a couple more people to find out what is Strange but True about them:
Julie at Cottage Daily
Debb at My Own Karma
Joyce at Renting Paradise
Karen at Story Board Blog
Let’s hear what’s Strange but True about you guys!

Heather, thanks so much for participating in this game of tag! It’s really been a lot of fun and I’ve learned some interesting things about several bloggers. It brings us all a little closer.
It sounds like you live in a beautiful and peaceful location. What a blessing!
We have the non-shopping gene in common. It does keep the budget in check, doesn’t it?!
Those are some great facts! But what the heck is Marmite? I think I’ve heard of it…but no idea what it is (other than some kind of spreadable food, I think).

Coryan – Marmite is otherwise known as yeast extract and is a black, very salty and savoury spread. As a child in UK I was brought up with ‘Marmite soldiers’ which are little slices of bread and butter spread with the stuff. You either love it or you hate it with a vengeance!
If you are adventurous, buy a little jar and try it out. I dare you!!
This is fun, Heather! Thanks for the tag – I’m always up for the challenge! And FYI, I AM one of the people that read your blog, I just don’t always post!!
I’ve posted my strange-but-true facts on my Blog!
Marmite sounds intriguing. I’ve heard of it, but have never seen it here in Sudbury. I wonder if it’s available anywhere in Ontario? I’m game to try it because I have very unusual food tastes!
Looking forward to reading everyone else’s facts!!!
Cheers,
Debb
