There’s some great discussions underway at the Cottage Life Forums. Just a glance through this morning showed a thread on hydro bills and some great information on updating baseboard heaters and reducing bills by installing thermosts. There’s a long running thread on building your own cottage with great advice and suggestions from those who have done it themselves.
The people who visit and contribute to the forum are helpful, friendly and experienced, from the ‘wannabee’ cottager to the contractors and building inspectors who frequent the site. If you have a question about anything from renovating and repair, to decorating and choosing paint colours; need a recipe for a cottage occasion, or just want to gripe about those little quirks of cottage life, this forum is really worth a look.
