Do Brighter Lights Attract More Moths?

By CottageGuru | August 5, 2008

Q.  Will turning up the brightness of your bedside lamp attract more moths?

A.  Only if the window is open and they can get in.

The same is true of your web site or vacation rental listing. Spending time making your web site attractive is great but if your potential clients can’t get in to see it, then it’s not really worth the effort.

This is the time of year to start attracting guests for the out of season months. Since the balance of play changes and there are many more property owners seeking those elusive off-season renters, it’s all the more important that your web site or listing is the brightest light out there.

There are lots of ways to attract hits on a website.

One thing for certain is to insert ‘keywords’ into the Page Source code. You can find this under ‘View’ in the menu bar. This is crucial in order for people to be easily able to find “cottage, Muskoka, rent”, for example.

Another thing is to link to sites that are related to yours. The more hits on a web site which you refer clients to, the higher up on the Google chain you are. My actor son, for example, gets more hits from my site since my portal page links to his and my professional portfolio page falls in the educational realm. My cottage page is linked to my main page and everyone is happy!
